Born in central New York, Joe Dorn had the benefit of long, cold winters to hone his artistic crafts and develop the dogged determination that has become synonymous with Joe to anyone that knows him.
After several years of engineering and drumming in Charlotte, NC, Joe embarked on his life-long dream of moving to Nashville, TN to pursue a career in the music industry. Paying the rent by working as a sound engineer, Joe managed to find time for drumming with some of the industry's finest. Names like Lionel Cartwright, Jeff Wood, and the legendary Charlie McCoy rise to the top of a long list of performers. He even found time to study with drumming great, Chester Thompson.
Active in the Nashville music community, Joe organizes a monthly social event for fellow professional drummers, simply called "Drummer's Lunch," in conjunction with the Nashville Drummer's Facebook group. This exclusive group has grown from just a handful to almost 500 professional drummers, with the Drummer's Lunch being the main social activity and networking event for it's members.
Doing the occasional church gig and always available for fill-in work, Joe is currently performing with many different artists that cover a wide array of musical genre.
Recent acts include:
- Amy Hart (blues)
- Jamie Brabham (country)
- David Newbould (alt-country)
- Sarah Kaine (country)
- Hydrogen Blonde (top 40)
- Melody Guy (alt-country)
- 9 Volt Romeo (light jazz)
Simply put, Joe is a creative being who is right at home in a creative environment, and no matter where he finds himself- whether its New York, Nashville, or Charlotte - you can bet that he'll be doing something that is sure to be seen or heard.
